Pentium III compatible processor, 100MB free space on the hard drive, USB flash drive, keyboard. Internet connection and Windows OS are both required by the installer. USB flash drive is required for newest kon-boot to work (USB pendrive capacity must be max 16GB, bigger ones are often causing serious problems with various BIOSes). Kon-boot can be only installed by using the original installer. One kon-boot license permits the user to install kon-boot on only one USB pendrive. In other words one license can be used to activate one USB pendrive only (you cannot use the same license to activate different USB pendrive).
Since kon-boot 2.7 there is a new feature present called automatic powershell script execution
. This feature is present only in COMMERCIAL LICENSES (UEFI mode only (Windows 8 x64 / Windows 10 x64)).
Disk encryption, tablets (includes Microsoft Surface hybrid), multiple operating systems installed on target computer, kernel debuggers, enabled secure boot, virtualization software (VMware, QEMU, VirtualBox), authorization through domain. CD and Floppy versions are deprecated (but still in the package for compatibility reasons).
All system requirements together with FAQ are available in our online guide
- All Windows systems starting from Windows XP to Windows 10 (both x86 and x64)
Regarding the UEFI support only Windows 8/8.1/10 x64 systems are supported (this is default Microsoft policy, additionally there are virtually none x86 UEFI systems out there). Kon-Boot now is able to bypass online account authorization on Windows 8/8.1. On Windows 10 only local account authorization bypass is available (with possibility to add new administrator account automatically (USB only)).
